We are seeking an experienced and motivated Recreation Officer to lead aquatic education and community recreation programs while supporting the day-to-day operations of the facility. Reporting to the Facility Manager, this leadership role is responsible for coordinating swim school operations, community engagement initiatives, recreational events, staff leadership, and operational compliance across the venue.
The Role
As the Recreation Officer, you will:
- Lead and develop the swim school and recreation team to deliver exceptional customer service and high quality aquatic education programs
- Coordinate community recreation initiatives including swim education, school programs, holiday activities, internal events, and community participation programs
- Plan and oversee school carnivals, recreational race events, holiday intensives, and special community activities
- Develop inclusive programs that support culturally and linguistically diverse communities, women, people with disabilities, and at-risk groups
- Build strong relationships with local schools, councils, sporting groups, community organisations, and local businesses
- Drive enrolments and participation growth through proactive community engagement, marketing initiatives, and relationship building
- Manage swim school rosters, scheduling, staffing, and daily operational requirements
- Support facility operations including supervision planning, stock management, pool plant operations, and program coordination
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, child protection obligations, and aquatic industry standards
- Monitor program performance and contribute to operational reporting, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Work collaboratively with the Facility Manager to support overall facility success and business objectives
About You

Experience in aquatic, recreation, community sport, or leisure facility operations is highly regarded. Availability to work at least one day on the weekend is required.
Qualifications
All CVM employees must hold a valid Paid Blue Card.

- Swim Teacher and Water Safety qualification
- CPR certification
- First Aid certification
- Pool Lifeguard qualification
- Recognised Pool Plant Operator qualification
- Qualifications in Recreation, Sport Management or Business Management
Salary Range: $75,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation
